Inshore, the Trout, Redfish and Spanish Mackerel are cooperating at nearly every flat adjacent to deep water. They are hitting on greenbacks and shrimp and are great on a plate! With the freeze we had this past winter, the Snook population took a hit, so catching one will be tough. Best to let the stocks replenish themselves before thinking of a Snook dinner.
Look for Trout, Ladyfish and Redfish to start congregating on the flats as the water warms back up again.
If you are looking for a good fight without having to run offshore---the Grouper are in close and we get them consistently at the Skyway trolling big lipped plugs.
Further offshore, Grouper can be found in 40-80 feet, with the temperatures of Spring bringing them even closer to shore.
